Description
Avs have the cap space going into next season to add a little more higher end depth to hope balance out the line up with the hopes the kids keep on developing

Three Targets Avs need are 1 Top 6 Winger, 1 Top 4 Dman, Goalie Depth.

Instead of going for the home runs in UFA with Tavares, JVR, Carlson (if they hit market) Avs go with the younger bunch of UFAs that fit into the rest of the mix of their roster.

Assuming E Kane doesnt resign in San Jose, his attitude could be kept in check as it seems like its the case right now in San Jose, his mix of size, speed, and physically would be ideal.

De Haan has been rumoured to be on the Avs radar for some time now, and with Barrie and him being a pair at World Championships a few season back, and looking great together. He would be an ideal target

Unless they trade for one, there really isnt any better goalie options on the open market to back up. avs resign their own and look at other trade opportunities depending on how the tandem works out next season

1. Agree with you on the goaltending.
2. I'm dead set against cancer Kane. I just don't want the Avs taking the chance after having seen how the dressing room has been so adversely affected in the past.
3. De Haan.....meh! Another D on the average to small side and we've just seen Barrie & Girard getting knocked off the puck all over the place by the Preds.

Normally you and I are in agreement on a lot of things regarding the Avs but I'll pass on those two. I'll take JVR over Kane for similar money if the Avs can get him. Tavares will cost way too much and I think Carlsson re-signs with the Caps or costs too much. Plus he's another RHD so unless we're moving Barrie he wouldn't be a fit. The other free agents I'm happy with bringing back for the right money and I think Siemens has shown enough to get another contract.

JVR would be ideal but I think he is easily over 7m, closer to 8m. And I dunno hes the older player at 29, Kane is slightly younger at 27 going into next season. Same as De haan. If they are going to spend money on UFAs might as well go with the better crop of young guys so you get a few more good years of their prime out of the contract vs the majority of the back end of their prime.

I dont think Siemens showed enough to warrant an NHL contract. He is a good AHLer and a nice kid apparently but why give him a new contract. Nemeth and Barberio are better than him by a country mile, and kids like Timmins and Meloche are down in the AHL. I dont see the upside in him as much as I am a fan wanting to see him succeed. I think his time is done

I agree with what you're saying but that term and dollar is ridiculous for Kane. San Jose got ripped off
