Trades
1.
CHI
    Future Considerations
    ARI
    1. Hossa, Marián
    2. 2019 6th round pick (CHI)
    Additional Details:
The idea here is to just get rid of Hossas Cap hit. Arizona was rumored to be taking it last year, but the Hawks backed out in hopes of Hossa coming back, now that he has officially retired, this will be forsure traded.
    2.
    CHI
    1. Slavin, Jaccob
    2. 2018 2nd round pick (CAR)
    CAR
    1. Saad, Brandon
    2. 2018 1st round pick (NSH)
    Additional Details:
It is absolutely no secret the Hawks need defensive help, and with Carolina selling, they are the team to look to. Slavin fits perfectly into what the hawks trying to rebuild on the fly as he can easily anchor a top 4 and is only 24. Losing Saad again sucks, but JVR coming here would make up for that.
    3.
    CHI
    1. 2018 4th round pick (EDM)
    MTL
    1. Anisimov, Artem
    Additional Details:
Montreal has been wanting a center forever, and with Anisimovs no trade clause going to a partial this summer, they can desperately use him. It is mainly a salary dump for the Hawks as well.

There's no way Carolina does that trade. I honestly don't think they do it if you add the 8th overall to the trade...although...that would certainly make it enticing.

Very solid team. I like the trades but I think you can get a little more for anisimov. Like a 5th round or another 4th.

I don't think it is completely unrealistic though. Carolina desperately needs a scoring winger and Saad is that. Their GM has said a ton this offseason that they were just too easy to play against and Saad is definitely not easy to play against so there is a fit with him going there I just don't know what D would be coming back to the Hawks and personally I would want Slavin if I am giving up Saad and a first. I think Saad without anything attached can get the Hawks Faulk.

Just saying, if CAR needs a scoring winger, why wouldn't they just try to get JVR as an UFA? They have money to give him a big contract, and also his brother Trevor is also in there, which make it even more tempting for him to sign in there. They'd be much better off by just keeping Slavin and getting JVR as a free agent. Saad as a scoring winger isn't that much of an upgrade - only 18 goals this year, while JVR scored almost 40.

You're definitely right, they can sign JVR, but he is 30 while Saad is 24. Fits in with their young core a lot better and like you said he will cost a lot more than Saad.
