Description
Wanted to look at the team over a few years and see how long it might take to contend again. Guessed wrong on the picks they'd make in the draft so giving it another go

yeah id say zadina has a good chance to start with the big club this year. It probably cost svechnikov his spot which is too bad id like to see him get time.

I tend to agree but could also see them letting his contract slide a year. There was some concern Svech was demotivated by being sent back so Zadina might get 9 games and swap places. But yes I could easily see Zadina in this spot

the only other option Is if AA or Nyquist gets moved before the season starts. I suppose if skinner and patches move and someone has money still Nyquist as a rental or AA could look like a boost offensively. More likely svechnikov gets plugged in here and there and spends most of his season in the ahl. Maybe injurys or the trade deadline gets him some space. id really like svech to get a consistant 25 or 30 game stretch up in Detroit to really let him lose and see if he can play. if they wont might as well ship him to Carolina for a middle pick and let him hang with his brother.

All true. I was surprised they signed AA. I really expected him to be moved. I love what he brings as a player but it seemed like management has made up their mind against him

Thanks for helping me make a point I had suggested in an earlier team post, which several people hotly disputed. If you had put Franzen on LTIR for the full benefit, you would have 3 roster spots open and $3.3M in cap space, enough to ice Frk and bring up Zadina and another young player (Cholowski at LD?). But you can do that only because you traded someone away.
