Description
WSH gets a top pairing RHD who's younger than Niskanen for arguably the best RHD depth in the NHL with Carlsson-Trouba as the 1-2 punch. WPG gets a very good RHD back in Niskanen as they are in win now mode as well and they also get a solid depth LHD in Djoos. Kulikov is moved with Petan to move the contract and Chirot as well as there's no room for him. He could also be sent down but likely scopped off waivers.

besides age what makes trouba better than nisk......and is he really that much better that the caps toss a stud young d man (djoo) in with him....

djoo Imo if he played all 82 games would be close skjei in comparison .....like I said Imo

also not being a dick just asking about your thought process

nick was a top pairing dman for a Stanley cup winning team

nisk had 29 points in 68 games

trouble had 24 in 55 games

if he played top pp he would easily put up 50-55 points

From a Washington perspective, Djoos wouldn't be moved. While Trouba would be a great fit to replace Niskanen both short and long term, Djoos is too big a sacrifice for us. He was actually our 2nd best defender throughout the season, even though he didn't get a lot of heavy minutes. Also given Washington's lack of NHL defensive depth, Djoos is a necessity for us this season. I like the deal if instead of Djoos, it could be done around future assets. We just drafted Martin Ferehavy (or however you spell it) in the second round, and I believe that Washington would much rather make this deal happen that way rather than with Djoos. But the concept is good, swapping Trouba for Niskanen.

Thought process is Trouba is a beast at 5v5. Trouba only had 3 PP points last year (Buff and Myers both get PP time not Trouba) and Trouba is top PK so his point totals at very similar to Niskanens so the statement applies to Trouba too.

Understood on the Djoos perspective. Wondering if Wilsons RFA rights instead would be on the table?

I'm curious why its taking so long to sign Wilson.....but knowing Washington they would be more willing to trade bura than Wilson
