I don't know much about the players coming back to the caps but niisk is the caps best d man and the defense on this team you made is awful.......so there would need to be a really good replacement if you make this trade

I don't see anything special about Camano's stats, besides one good playoff run as an over-ager in the OHL: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=177553
Calderone I don't get the appeal at all: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=160542

If your point is that you think Niskanen falls off a cliff next year and is never valuable again, I disagree. He missed fourteen games to injury midseason this year, and still finished in the top 30 of defensemen in even strength points and was a great shutdown defenseman all the way to the Cup. This coming year if he's healthy he could do exactly the same thing and the Caps have much better odds to repeat with three #1 defensemen than with two.

I don't think the above defense is that bad in two years. I think it's just slightly above average. I think that Bowey and Djoos will have surpassed Kempny by then and be playing like #4 guys while Kempny at 29 might be more of a #5... but there are still two #1 guys there, in Orlov and Carlson, so depending on how Johansen and Alexeyev develop, it could still be a strength for the team.

If you're saying they need to trade Niskanen right now in order to get anything back for him, I disagree. They have no problem paying him for three more years whether he's good or not. If he stops being any good, it'll be that much easier to re-sign Ovechkin.

You have the right idea you just have a bad return. Nisky will get a 1st+2nd or a great prospect in return. And this is only if Bowey really proves himself this season.
