Description
I want the Habs to rebuild but I also recognize the fact that we have to ice a team for next season. We are in a unique position where we can easily help teams and take on contracts that are 1-3 years until UFA. Let me know your thoughts.

Note: In my opinion, our top prospects are 2 years away from being major parts of our NHL team. I rather they take the time to develop properly than be rushed in.

If you're rebuilding, you don't want to be competitive. Go the Leaf model. Ice a crap team, finish as low as possible, get high draft picks and pray you land 1st overall to net a franchise center.

I don’t see the need in Patches honestly the team has good depth. And Fabbri is solid top 6 when healthy no need for Patches in STL. He is older so we won’t get as much production as we would if we got Fabbri at his peak

Fair enough. Although I feel every team could use more 30+ goal scorers, I understand your position. IF you were looking to make a trade for Patches, what do you think of my value? I kinda took the trade from another post from a Blues fan and personally thought it was fair

Maybe my choice of words were wrong. Yes we're rebuilding but I also don't think we're as far behind as the leafs once were. Gally, Drouin, Domi, Mete, Juulsen, Lehkonen, Danault, Hudon are all young and our main prospects will most likely make their way up in the next 2 years. I figured I could put together a relatively young team with experience to get ready for their arrival.

Also, it's so hard to tank nowadays and I don't think the Habs will be bad enough to get a great shot at Hughes (unless we're very lucky with the lottery). Then again, I could very wlel be wrong here LOL.

Anyways, just my opinions

It's dump-on-Pacioretty month (again). Don't worry about it. It's a fair deal; it might just not be what "Beast" wants. That's fair.

What's confusing is that you say you're in rebuilding mode, then trading away JDLR, Scherback, and two draft picks to teams that are in win-now mode. If you're really thinking 2-3 years away, think Byron and Petry, and once he's healthy, maybe even Weber. Make Gallagher the captain and surround him with leaders so that he doesn't get pummelled like Pacioretty.
