Ya I am sure this would workout fantastic for the Leafs..... Are you seriously suggesting playing with 4 forwards and 1 defenseman at all times??? There is a reason a lot of teams are hesitant to even play 4F and 1D on the power play let alone at even strength. Would be a total disaster.

Only new ideas move us forward, so I'm giving you 5 stars for that. But I think that this sort of experiment has to be tried out at lower levels because hockey, in particular, is hidebound. Nevertheless, and in support of your theory, I am bound to remind everyone about Paul Coffey, who never spent more than 30 seconds of any shift inside his own blue line.

If you score 5 goals a game, you can get away with giving up 4. Freddie can cope.
