Description

As everyone knows, the Leafs will potentially be having some cap problems next season with the signings of Matthews and Marner. Many are pushing for the acquisition of a top pairing RHD. Though there is really no point in spending a potential point-a-game player in Nylander.

An alternative approach Babcock could choose to take is the 11 forwards, 7 d-man. This would eliminate the movement of 4 lines, and instead allow Babcock to pick and chose the placement of bottom six players like Brown, Kapanen, Johnsson, and either Ennis or Lindholm. Slotting them into positions for success. This also allows them to use their 7th D, potentially Holl, on the penalty kill allowing Hainsey and Zaitzev to play more 5 on 5 minutes more effectively.
