Description
Skinner went for a mid-level prospect, a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. That set the market for a 50-60 pt, scorer. Stone is obviously a level above that, but not quite at the Seguin or panarin level.

Hence a 1st, 2nd, and two solid prospects should be a competitive package, especially at the deadline where prices tend to be lower.

Karlsson is there for a bit of a cap swap and because the sens desperately need help defensively and on the PK, areas where Karlsson excels.

If they pulled thsi deal, they would be 4 lines deep (hell donskoi and suomela would be 4th liners!) and with a great mix of physically dominant power forwards with high end skill. Stone would arguably give the sharks the best forward lines in the NHL.

Stone is better than panarin, Stone is a RW version or P.Bergeron but younger. Would need better prospects for deal to happen.

Boy, it seems to me you're out a lot if Stone doesn't re-sign.

Problem with stone that might lower his value is injuries. he missed 7 games, then 11 games, then 24 games the last 3 years. Panarin has put up most consistently strong numbers missing just 3 games the last three season combined. And stone looked to be in that level last season, but he is not yet consistently there like Seguin, Tavares, or Panarin. Like Karlsson in Vegas, he has to show that he can be consistently at that level before his value skyrockets.

Still, you might be right that the price is too low. However, Skinner went for less than what anything ever thought he would. Nobody expected that kind of package to land him, especially not in the offseason where prices tend to be higher than at the deadline.

If that was skinner's price, then a 1st, 2nd, solid O prospect and a solid D prospect, along with a roster player who addresses one of the needs of the team is a reasonable package. Its not gunna blow anyone away, and is lower than what I thought the market would need prior to the skinner deal, but I am not sure that much more will be needed. Still, if Stone is healthy and seems to be performing well, then dougie would be willing to swap in a higher end prospect like Merkley or Norris, I would guess. You gotta give to get, and no question dougie is willing to pay big to get the difference maker he wants.

Even if that was the case, it is hard to tell what the market would be at the deadline. He will obviously be in high demand but it is dependent on what GMs are willing to give up for a possible rental. I’m assuming that’s why Nash went for so much last year. Maybe there was a bidding war and Boston went over the top with their offer.

You would definitely have to remove the conditional part of the first rounder though.

Yep. Its a huge price for a rental. though the 1st rounder is conditional. Otherwise its 2 2nd rounders, and two prospects. No roster players, and the sharks have a fair numbers of offensive prospects in blacers, suomela, Norris, Gambrell, Praplan, and a few others. They can easily afford to part with one or two in a trade for the right guy.
