Description
At trade deadline, send some offense (Scherbak) to Anaheim for future stability on left defense (Larsson). Carolina trade gives present day offense and depth to Hurricanes for future picks. Petry trade help Vegas for playoff run and next 2 years, Habs get picks and prospect.

Assume Habs pick at #5, #16 and #24 in 2019 draft, and select Kirby Dach (C/RW), Antonni Honka (RHD), and Matt Robertson (LHD). Depending who is available at pick 5, they may want to grab a defender there instead (Byram or Broberg ??). Looks like a deep draft.

35-man roster roughly reflects new depth chart going into 2019 season. Much improved compared to 2017-18 low point. Go Habs !! But don't aim too high this year. More high draft picks are still critical to long term success.

A well-thought-out strategy. My only contrary thought would be that by the trade deadline, with Corey Perry planned to return plus Rakell, Silfverberg, Kase and Terry, Anaheim doesn't need RW's but LW's. Larsson plus the pick for Lehkonen and Hudon has some appeal.

Hopefully both those LW guys have good years, and bump up their value. I'd hate to give them both up in this type of trade but the defense needs upgrading more than anything in MTL.
