The Wild trade is interesting. I like both of Dallas' goalie prospects (Oettinger and Point) and we need a high end goalie prospect so that checks off a box. I'm not sure if Honka is a great pickup for us, however, since we are pretty stacked at RD in both roster players and our prospect pool. Our roster players are Dumba, Spurgeon, Pateryn, and Prosser, all of which can handle the NHL. Our prospects are Belpedio, Filip Johansson, and Simon Johansson, all of which could be top 4 defenseman someday. RD is probably our deepest position, so Honka wouldn't have much room to grow on our team. I like Honka though, don't get me wrong. We just need forwards much more than defenseman and I get the sense Dallas is in the same position.

I have felt Staal is a great fit for Dallas for a while now, although I'm not sure Fenton would want to trade him to a division rival.

Montreal actually needs Petry, they have nobody else until Weber comes back.

Habs say no. Petry is worth more even if they could afford to move him. Which, as noted above, they can't just yet.

rangers don't have the cap for that trade.. and they say no because there is little to no value in that trade for them. Rangers needs are: true top line center, scoring winger, and top pairing defenseman. No i do not think that namestnikov gets any of these, but he could be packaged in to get a young player or prospect that will eventually fit that description. this deal just seems like a lateral move if not going down a bit in terms of ceiling between namestnikov and janmark
