Assuming for the purposes of this post that trading Matthews becomes a necessity (for some reason), then this still isn't close enough. Unless you mean that in addition to the three elements shown, you mean another 2nd round pick or Boone Jenner.

If the Leafs trade a generational player like Matthews, then on other end better be a generational player AKA McDavid. With all due respect to Jones...

Let's assume the Leafs lose Matthews to an Arizona offer sheet and receive 4 first rounders (likely two lottery picks). The trade you suggested.....one year of Panarin equals one year of Matthews.
So four years of Jones and two late second rounders.......is it worth the 4 first rounders from Arizona? I think the Leafs keep Matthews, and hope they can resign him, instead of making the Coumbus trade
