Description
Most of the acquired players need a change of scenery and are not playing well currently. In the Boston trade, Boston rids itself of the Backes contract and while they take on Roussel's and Schaller's they still save 3 million and replace Bjork and Heinen, who are struggling. The player benefit is in Vancouver's favour, but the saved cap space makes this one even.
St. Louis rids itself of Bouwmeester's contract and loses a struggling Schmaltz. Pouliot trumps Bouwmeester and Schmaltz tops Biega, but the saved cap space again tilts this to even and probably in favour of St. Louis.
Anaheim saves minorly in cap space by losing Cogliano but gains Del Zotto who helps bring stability to the D while Fowler and Lindholm are injured. The saved cap space again helps Anaheim bring the trade to even.
Pittsburgh trades Maata, a struggling Sprong, and a cap dump in Sheahan, who is playing terribly. They gain a top 4 RHD in Tanev which they terribly need, a solid bottom six utility man and penalty killer in Granlund, and a replacement for Sheahan in Motte. This one probably tips in the Pen's favour so Gadjovich could be taken out.
Vegas gets a good 4C and a depth player while losing Nosek and Carpenter who are doing awful this year. This trade is even as Vegas really doesn't lose anyone and the gain of Beagle cancels out his cap hit.
LA continues to shake things up by losing two underperforming players and gaining a cap dump who can equal Clifford's play, and Bjork who can equal Lewis but is way younger. The cap is even but the plus of Bjork and minus of Gagner evens out.
Arizona loses Archibald,a cap dump, and Cousins and gain two fourth line players. This is a better trade for nobody as there are no good pieces involved.
Minnesota loses Niederreiter but gaines Baer as a replacement and a fourth liner plus a low end prospect. This opens up cap space for Minnesota who probably win the trade.
I know that this is crazy, but I think this would be awesome for Vancouver and most of the teams benefit from the trades. Draft picks were not included in the trades but could be if either team isn't satisfied.

Yeah, none of these trades are actually going to happen, they're equal values trades. BTW, why would Boston say no? The three Boston players have scored 9 points in a combined 51 games. The Canuck ones have scored 16 in 53 games. Also, Boston's players have a -.7OPS and a 1.1DPS compared to the Canucks .2OPS .3DPS line. That's a .5 to .4 advantage to the Canuck players. IOW, the Canuck players are better, and the Bruins gain cap space but they still turn the trade down.

I totally agree on this. If I'm boston I take that deal and run. It gets Backes off the books and none of those pieces are expensive or long term. They aren't really giving up alot.
I also think the Penguins take that trade and run too. But that's just me.

The penguins do need to get rid of those players, but that is a bad trade for them

The only real thing the penguins are giving up here is sprong. And possibly a top 5 1st round pick tears of joy
The get a RHD which to be honest they might not even make the playoffs if they don't find one. Because the blueline has been awful without schultz.
You also get Grandlund who can be a servicable LW. None of the contracts are long term. Which if he can play well they need anyway. Especially considering Schultz contract ends next year and they could probably move him for a decent return instead of losing him to FA.
While Sprong could develop into a good player, he hasn't done anything yet and the Penguins got probably this year and next and then it's most likely gonna start to look ugly. Will have players who are 34 years old then. Not that they can't still be good, but reality is they won't be playing like they use to. Besides the team is flooded with RW. They got Angelo in WB, they have a future RW playing at Penn State just tearing it up. They are not a team looking for help on the RW. But you slot a decent LW on the 3rd line, and now you have given teams a problem.
