Nylander and Leivo for Schmaltz....no thanks Leafs. Since you paid Nylander 8m a year, shouldn't the Leafs be expected 8m in value back?

I wouldn't say the Leafs need 8m back, they are definitely not choosing to give him that much. At this point the Leafs are doing just fine without him so anything worthwhile that they can receive in compensation is a gain. They wouldn't take the deal above but I still think Schmaltz, a young defenseman (Forsling or Murphy) and our second round pick is enough for the Leafs. Other, more competitive, teams might offer more though so we may miss out anyways. Personally, I wouldn't want Nylander unless we can shed salary elsewhere. I think it takes more than him to make us competitive again.

If you want 8 mil in cap back, boy do I have a deal for you.
