Why Lehkonen sent down though? Even if you bench him, he's much better than Sherback in every possible way.

I honestly would love to have Nylander with the Habs and would probably give up some good players to make it happen but Toronto trading him to anyone in the east is a pipe dream I think.

I think that, at this point, the leafs just realized that they can compete without him and are not interested in signing him anymore. At least not at his asking price. i'd sign Marner over Nylander.

It makes sense to trade him for a defenseman who can play with Rielly in my opinion.

The Leafs can sign and afford Nylander this year. It's next summer that is iffy, where due cap reasons might for force a Nylander trade. But you're right...and it's subjective, is having Petry an upgrade enough on defence to trade Nylander.
