Description

Danault's the most skilled Center to hit the TDL market since Vermette went to CHI but unlike Vermette he's got 1 year left on his 3m dollar deal and come 2020 that cap vs production will be the best thing on the market i've got no doubt .

taking fair market value on Danault and giving him to a team who could utilize him going forward longterm to help carry the over flow of Malkin's lack luster numbers at center by giving Danault who's taken 1/2 of all MTL's faceoffs the DZ starts in bulk cycling off after possessions gained to let Malkins line wreak havoc .

what PIT is giving up isnt much when you remember this is 2020 TDL and Maatta will have 2 years left at age 26 before going UFA and JB .

Berglund is brought in on a 1 year deal in 2019 and earned a 2nd 1 year deal in 2020 for it with the role of helping Poehling adjust to Faceoffs in the NHL

PIT i think will be in the playoffs in 2021 and in this scenario would get a 25th-32nd pick in the 2021 draft.

MTL gets a LD who speaks finnish to further confuse opponents while also helping build a support base around Jesperi who will wear the CH for us for a long time .

Bellerive is an undrafted pick up PIT has that fits MTL system nicely . he could bust and be a career AHL'er like Aggistino or he could be a regular contributor like Desharnais was for a long time for MTL

overally MTL is getting a late 1st , a B+ prospect and Maatta who's according to PIT fan only fine when he plays with Schultz. (i'm assuming if Weber can Carry Beaulieu,Emelin ,Benn,Reilly ,Kulak and Mete then he's going to do fine with Maatta )

Scott Walford ready for the NHL ? Berglund for 2M or less for a season maybe. My opinion, Lehkonen left wing & Armia right wing ( No Berglund ). Did you trade Armia or just forgot him ?

Walford's more ready today then Mete was when we brought him up , watch the guy play live he's a beauty .

Armia is not tendered an offer Evans and Poehlings addition to bottom line pushed him out in favor of faceoff wingers who can help them as without Danault they are expected to take minimum 700 faceoffs each with Kotkanemi and Poehling looking at 1300 minimum to balance out the 5000 faceoffs MTL average's.

if Armia could win a faceoff he's be in over Chaput or Shaw but he cannot and i personally like Deslauriers more then Armia (no knock against him he's good ).

7th in NHL faceoffs , 10th in NHL faceoff % and 11th in Faceoff Wins as his first year playing top center role , Each and every season in his young career he jumps ahead in this area getting better and better so if you think that has no value to PIT who's got Crosby who's 8th in NHL faceoffs taken just doesnt make sense as it would take infinite pressure off guys like Malkin and make it harder for teams to shut down their centers while adding a player who scores 90% of his points 5v5 . . . .

i get it he's not in your fantasy league , that doesnt mean anything to those who actually follow the sport not the fantasy

Maatta will be a 26 year old with 2 seasons left and if he keeps declining as hard as he has been your Depth is going to replace him and leave him a healthy scratch even more then he is now . his value 2 years ago i'd agree with your statement but he's not the player he was for whatever reason people who shouldnt be are surpassing him on a championship caliber team

My goodness, dreaming in technicolor Billy. A 1st rounder where Pittsburgh is right now is more than fair value for Danault. Maatta and Bellerive too?

Im sorry man but the bias is strong in this post. I won't dismiss Walford because who knows he may surprise but chances are he'll go to Laval way before making the NHL outright.
