Description

Brodie GP 42 G 5 A 11 P 16 PPP 1 with BS 47 and HITS 11

with Brodie gone that leaves Giordano ,Hanofin and Valamaki for your LD regulars giving you an arguably Stronger core going forward on the left side and hands down Superior on CGY right .

its a very fair trade for both teams giving both players a chance to step out of the Shadows of their teams respective #1 D's .
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Czarnik, Austin
  3. 2020 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
MTL retains on Petry to make the cap an even swap allowing CGY to CLEARLY Upgrade their D. this gives Hanafin and Valamaki more ice time while giving Hamonic help on the RD

the production difference between Brodie and Petry is so great that only 1 CGY player currently exceeds the difference between them .
CGY
  1. Petry, Jeff ($750,000 retained)
2.
MTL
  1. 2019 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:

this gives WSH a speedy back checker who plays physical and plays his best hockey on RW where WSH is at its weakest .
WSH
  1. Hudon, Charles
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (CBJ)

Agreed. Hudon has taken a major step backward this season. In part, that's coaching and the new system, but it also speaks to his inability to adjust, something that teams will all notice and lowers his value in any possible trade.

The value needed to move from approx 45-60ish to 25-30ish is another 2nd round pick. Hudon at best will get a 5th rounder in a vacuum where Habs are not afraid to lose him for nothing on waivers. Since they are, his value to other teams may only be 7th. At that point teams would be more willing to roll the dice and hope to get him for free than to risk even a 7th.

Hudon is a good player but lacks something that if a coach can get out of him will reap the benefits. Hudon's future is somewhat similar to Mathieu Perreault's. Once he left Washington, he became an NHL regular. Good coaching and management will help decide that though.

NHL GM's long ago coined the Term '' Sophmore Slump '' when addressing non hockey personnel from the media like yourselves with no ability to think from a Business standpoint based on Logic .

to believe someone can score 32 points his rookie season then be wrote off just because MTL trade both its 30 goal scorers and gave the offense a facelift doesnt mean Hudon **** or struggling it just means its his bad luck he's got 1/3 coaches in the NHL who believe's in a 4 line system that leans on his 4th line to win faceoffs and play with Grit . we've added Domi ,Tatar ,Armia and Kotkanemi all of which have done great which leaves him in Limbo like Lehkonen was last year in his Sophmore Slump when Hudon replace him leaving Lehkonen a healthy Scratch

if you guys cant think past tomorrow , how do you expect anyone to take you seriously ?

yes and no

pretty much ever player goes through the Sophmore Slump , Lehkonen did last year , are you saying that some how devalue's what he's accomplished since ?

GM's think past tomorrow and have enough experience to see the difference between inability in Peca and a coach unwilling to juggle lines holding Hudon out who got most of his 30 points last year with Plekanec's and beside Lehkonen so if he were to succeed in MTL again its likely to be at Armia's expense (could happen , Hudon's more durable and Armia would be easier to move )
