might be worse reason for the leafs to make the trade. do understand why the leafs might want nurse though

I'd definitely be open to this trade, (I'm an Oilers fan). But I think that Jones would have to play exceptionally to even consider this, and Kapanen needs to prove he's more than a product of his linemates. And I think both teams might prefer to make this trade next season. If Toronto loses Gardiner and Hainsey next year, they might want a top 4 dman, plus Kapanen may be asking for too much. And Edmonton may feel more comfortable if Jones has more time to develop, and Bouchard makes the team next season. I don't mind the trade, I just think it makes more sense to do next year.

There's a lot of ifs and maybes around the Oilers defence atm likely won't get sorted out until everyone is healthy. Sekera is having better recovery this year then last (was terrible last year on return but was looking better in WHC after the season) so maybe with AHL conditioning and more mobility this season he could be 3-4 guy for 2 years. If Nurse can bring in top 6 scoring winger would probably be good for the Oilers to do going into next season
