They're looking - according to several people - for a bottom pairing LD and a 1B goalie type. Allen (who isn't great) is better than Smith (with less salary) and Bouwmeester (maybe they retain on him too) has been playing much better of late.

Also, Bouwmeester would waive to go back to where he started AND he's the type of vet that GMs/coaches love getting.

Smith has one season at less cap than Allen. Boumeister makes a lot for a 6th dman. If the Blues retained half of Allen and sent the 3rd, instead of giving a 3rd, they may be interested.

Doesn't help the Flames this year, and Flames certainly don't want to carry Allen's contract for the next few years any more than the Blues do.

I think we’ll be surprised by the amount of interest Bouwmeester receives (especially if scouts have watched the last 2 months) but no one is touching Jake Allen.
