Description
Nyquist wouldn't go to Edmonton, but Mantha does not have an NTC. He'd be their best right winger and is an RFA. Oil would gain Jensen to make up for the loss of Jones but wings would ask for their first pick this year and a conditional pick in 2020. Wings need to retain Half of Mantha's salary for to help keep the Oil under the cap

As as Edmonton fan I'm interested. A young 6'5" power forward that can score, to play with McDavid. But just one question: hows Mantha's skating? I assume he can't be that bad since he plays with Larkin right? Is he a fast skater?

Why would Detroit do this at all? Taking away a core future piece for a maybe Dman and a 1st round pick, while you are rebuilding? Mantha isn't the guy to trade during a rebuild, he would be considered a core piece. Caleb does not equal Seth.

Also, why would Edmonton do this? They need Dman maybe worse than Detroit.

Mantha is only 24, only bad teams make trades like this....

Depends on how much he wants it. He has games where he looks great, but then will disappear for 2-3 games. Effort has been the question mark with him. However, with Mcjesus feeding him, he could become a real producer.

We have to retain at least some of Mantha because the Oil are up against the cap. Also leverage to get their #1 pick this year. Of the 3 RFAs coming up that year (Mantha, AA and Bert) he is the most expendable IMO. See above for reasoning. All the talent and size in the world, but does not have the heart. If he worked as hard as bert or larkin, he'd be a 30 goal scorer. There's a reason Larkin got the deal he got and Mantha didn't.

No thanks from Detroit. There are 8-9 forwards I'd move before moving Mantha. Just doesn't make sense.
