Pretending the ROR trade never happened

Only problem is we would be in last place ROR and Jack can't stand each other so get over it.

Obviously the team is better with ROR (on paper), but the point of the trade was for BUF to improve long term while STL improved now (Although this season has been kinda backwards since BUF has been better than everyone expected and STL has been worse than everyone expected). You cant say the trade was bad after half of a season when the trade includes young players and picks... Wait for Thompson to pan out and see who you get with the picks before saying the trade was bad.

Mittelstadt still wouldn't be on the wing and the locker room would still be in disarray. He wasn't traded due to lack of production

I'm not sold on Thompson, which colors my opinion of the trade. And Berglund and Sobotka are not net gains at their cap hit. If we wanted some of those players we could have been the one to sign a Patrick Maroon, Alex Beagle, or Alex Chiasson type player over the offseason.

The trade might end up working out better in the end, but that would mostly be if St. Louis gives a far better than expected 1st round pick pick, and that pick pans out. I would not have traded ROR for an expected late first, 3rd, and Thompson.
