Why would they trade mcdonagh. He is a franchise player

He is going to become a Fa soon and need a lot of money and I dont think they should risk paying that contract reather sell and get a good return at a postion of need, with guys in hartford they have plenty of LHD coming

replace Desharnais + 6th , and put J.Fast and you might have a deal.

So Counter-proposal: McDonagh + Fast for Pacioretty + 3rd.

1D is a far more difficult position to fill than 1W, and Gorton's not exactly Chiarelli. Rangers will hold onto McDonagh rather than trade him for a subpar return. Especially since Pacioretty's contract expires the same year McDonagh's does.

Never trade a top defenseman. No way this happens for the Rangers. Plus Montreal needs Max for scoring. Their offense is hurting
