Nash is worth a first round pick + more
Vermette landed a first round pick, Hanzal landed a 1st and a 2nd, Eric Staal landed two 2nd's and a B prospect...
Nash will not command a first round pick this year because teams can call George McPhee and select Marchessault, Neal, Perron, all who are better today than Rick Nash, or they can call Toronto and ask for JVR who is better than Rick Nash or they can call Buffalo and ask for Evander Kane who is better than Rick Nash. If they're real desperate and really really want to spend a 1st plus they can call Philly and ask about Simmonds, or the Habs and ask about Pacioretty, or the Sharks about Pavelski, all who are better than Rick Nash.
Guys like Vermette and Hanzal were valued where they were because of supply and demand. Last year we didn't have 7 options for a legit 3C rental, so Hanzal was a premium. This year we have half the leagues worth of middling top 6 wingers.
Sorry, but nobody is giving a 1st + something for Rick Nash. The entire market of scoring wingers is fucked because the best, Evander Kane, has super baggage. James Neal probably gets the biggest trade value, or JVR if TOR will move him.
Rick Nash has 13 points lol. He's like 7th in line. There aren't going to be 7 teams who all add a top 6 winger for a first. The teams that want a top 6 winger will offer the 1st to the multitude of better options (Evander Kane, JVR, James Neal) 2nd + B prospect is what is going to happen if NYR sells him off, which they should even if they are contenders, because he isn't good enough to not get a 2nd and a B prospect.
