the trade makes sense if draisaitl had established himself at centre. since he hasn't the oilers need rhn at centre as draisaitl plays wing.

I believe he can play center, but either way, rnh will have to be moved purely because of cap reasons. Lucic has a nmc, so his 6mill stays put. RNH is a young center, doesn't have a clause in his contract, while pacioretty is on an team friendly deal and can score 30 without a number 1 center. imagine what he could do on a line with mcdavid or draisaitl.

I actually pulled out so many stats, the ideal available Center for the Habs would be either Ryan O'Reily or Trocheck, Strong faceoffs and great passing. Trading either Max or Galchenyuk with 1st round picks and prospects.
If 1 of those big Centers hitting free agency next year would be available for the Habs, Id go for a Derick Brassard or Couturier as 2nd Center , Danault 3rd Center and Froese at 4th Center.

i think if we need to go for a center via FA, it should be tavares. we have the money. we have the goalie. we can trade pacioretty for futures, and retool this season and in the offseason.

Price_is_the_goat. pacioretty has been the whipping boy for montreal fans. i don't see why. as you suggest if ever he had centre, his production would ever be higher.

I really really doubt Tavares would ever sign in MTL , same goes Thornton, Stasny, Sedin, Bozak. That is why id go for a O'Reily or Trocheck for Patches or Galchenyuk and +
and plan C would be a Brassard or Couturier just to hold up the middle as best as they can and using a Galchenyuk for a prime LD puck mover.

as reported by darren dreger this week, he feels as if tavares wants to play for the montreal. and when we bring up media attention etc, this guy is really good with the media like price. he is snippy, and knows how to handle hard media. and as dreger said, players think different from fans. all the "rebuild" crys don't matter to players. i posted the article from where i got this from. i don't see why he wouldn't sign with mtl.

Why? I know MTL needs centers, but come on, Patches is one of your best forwards and Nuge is comparatively streaky.

nuge needs to be given the chance to seize the role as a top 6 center. he is really underrated. pacioretty will be a ufa in the summer of 2019. and edm needs a winger
