Description

CGY gets an 4th line center upgrade in Beagle. They take on Orpik's contract, spending 1M more cap space but it is only for 2 more years rather than 3. They can afford to lose Kulak as they have good D prospects in Valimaki, Fox, Kylington, and Andersson.

WSH gets a good young LHD in Kulak who comes at a low cap and will have RFA status for 2-3 more years. They take on Brouwer's contract, saving 1M in cap space but will have to pay him for 3 years rather than 2 with Orpik.

At face value, the deal is fine. But looking at the team direction, the Caps have Lucas Johansen coming up soon, who we’ll want to give minutes over Kulak. Also, we’re going to have a lot of wing competition, so Brouwer taking a spot from a youngster isn’t ideal.

But it’s a new, fair idea, so stick taps for that.
