Trade with Minnesota based off of BMac’s latest comments on the TDL

Description
He wants to improve the defense and my guess is he will. It just depends on who he wants to bring in. He said he is okay with the forwards, however, Burakovsky has been scratched recently meaning he seems okay with Connolly on the 3rd line. Burakovsky can really help bring in a Dman with term or an RFA.

I still think BMac will find a way to make sure he gets a Top 6 fwd and a top 4 D. He mentioned the league is wide open this year.

Minny won't make this deal. One of their best D-men in Dumba, as well as a top 6 forward for an old, overpriced Orpik, and a late 1st round pick? Burakovsky has some value to be sure, but I think Washington would be paying much more than the proposed deal. I don't see Minny trading Dumba either.

This is obviously hypothetical but I only made this trade if they are out of it come deadline time

This is the only deal in which I'd consider trading Burakovsky, simply because it brings in another young, talented winger. Minnesota would definitely need more, but it's a conversation starter.

The conversation from the Wild would be no.
-Orpik has about 0 value for the Wild. Old, expensive LD that isn't needed
-1st is nice, but it'll be a late first, so it's not that nice.
-Burakovsky, I don't think, will ever be close to what Nino currently is.
-Barber I know nothing about.
-Wild somehow end up adding cap they don't have.

This is fantastic for the Caps, so I can only assume it doesn't work for Minnesota.

Dumba is a promising young right handed defenseman, just coming into his prime, and able to replace Carlson if he doesn't re-sign. Trading Orpik gives the Caps extra salary cap room to re-sign Carlson.

Move Dumba over to the right side and scratch Bowey until someone gets hurt, call up Ness or Johansson, and call this a win.
