Description

Pacioretty, 29, has 8 goals and 21 points in 40 games, while Nugent-Hopkins, who will be 25 in April, has 29 points in 40 games, 15 goals and 14 assists. Pacioretty is coming off of years where he scored, in order, 39, 37, 30 and 35 goals.

Nugent-Hopkins has three years left on a deal that pays him $6 million per. Paxioretty has one more year on a deal that pays $4.5 million per.

Nugent-Hopkins is a centre and centres are more valuable than wingers, given they have much more defensive responsibility.

As a Habs fan, I think Montreal would have to give more.

Were I Bergevin, I would disagree that you'd have to give a second pick to EDM, but I do see the logic. I would argue for more provided Max re-sign in EDM and/or they make the playoffs with him.

Galchenyuk is worth more than Gauthier and a swap of picks ... much more. Add one of the dozen excellent defence prospects in the Carolina system and you've got my attention.

Ok for the RNH trade but not draft picks ... Max Patch is 4th overall in goal scoring in the last 4 years ... While RNH didn't put that much point.
Gauthier is far off Galchenyuk ... Gauthier is having 11pts in 30 games in the AHL ..
