All three players are gonna get more. There are reliable reports that both Johnsson and Kapanen are signing for between 3.25M and 3.5M and I’d bet on Marner getting at least 10M

Habs have:
1. Too many contracts
2. Too many bottom-six players
3. Too many goalie prospects
So I guess you can say this trade doesn’t really makes sense for Montreal

I can’t comment on the AAV of the contracts because I don’t watch the Sharks enough, but I can tell you that the last thing MTL needs is another middle-six/bottom-six player, especially at the price of a worse draft pick.

A) We have a ton of cap space and can offer him a lot. I know Tavares's priority is not the money, but Montreal has a has the edge on almost everyone in terms of salary offered, even after taxes if we only count teams with enough cap space to land him.
B) Florida has shown interest in the past and it's a place that Pacioretty likes and where he would easily sign an extension.

You act like Gallagher is too old to be a part of a new corps. He isn't, and he is on a very sweet contract. Two firsts may be enough for Pacioretty (on par with what Lucic fetched from LA, but Patch is better and on a cheaper contract), but another first is not enough for Gallagher, especially if you want salary to be retained.

Don't get your hopes up for the return on Vanek. He's having a great season, but GMs seem to not value him much. Last year he was having a very decent season and he only went for a third, this year he's doing even better, but he's older and the market is flooded with wingers.

Really? An incredibly underrated 2nd line center and a Top-4 defenseman for half a year of Nash (useless for a team almost out of the playoff picture), a 2nd and a 3rd oooks realistic to you?

What's the point of saying signed for 2018-19? We're going to resign most of them without problems given how much cap space we have, without having to give up picks for it. We're gonna have Shaw, Danault, probably De La Rose and maybe Plekanec. You can add Froese, L. Shaw and even Cracknell for the AHL roster. These are all Bottom-6 centers, we don't need more.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>7% of 3rd rounders make the NHL. A 3rd round pick is a giveaway.</div></div>
According to this article (<a href="https://www.tsn.ca/playing-the-percentages-in-the-nhl-draft-1.206144" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.tsn.ca/playing-the-percentages-in-the-nhl-draft-1.206144</a>), it's actually 30%.
Second rounders aren't that much better, yet Penguins fans are incredibly stingy when we suggest trading Plekanec to the Pens for a second, and Plekanec is much more valuable than Larsson.

Correction: Montreal has no Top-6 center. We have plenty of 3rd and 4th line center and we don't need to add another one, especially if the price is a 3rd round pick. We traded one in Mitchell a few months ago for a 5th rounder (maybe 4th).

Easy no from MTL. The only valuable piece is Kylington, since Backlund is a UFA (UFA rights have little value) and Brouwer a cap dump. That's not enough for Pacioretty.

Pacioretty Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>Pointless remark. I mean, if you want to play it like that, has anyone in the ANA organisation even acknowledged interest in Patches? Or even stated that top prospects are available? The burden of proof is on you to prove that GMBM is even entertaining the idea of moving not 1, but 2 top prospects + a 1st (that is currently a lottery pick) for Patches, not on us to disprove it.
In defence of us “Duck fans”, the belief that “we” have that Steel isn’t available is founded on sound logic based on GMBM’s track-record (he’s never moved a top prospects for a player, let alone 2), we actually need Steel to replace Getzlaf eventually i.e. he’s not an expendable asset, we have other issues to address (namely Bieksa), and the fact that we’re not in a playoff position to even exploit the addition of Patches. Sorry to bring your fantasy crashing down, but this is the reality of the situation. </div></div>
The difference is that any kind of trade on this board is a proposal, a "what if" scenario (What would a Pacioretty-to-Anaheim trade look like? What would be a fair return according to me?), while Ducks fans make claims and treat them like God's truth without having anything but past experience to back it up.

Look up his stats in the OHL. His stats in the A suck because he plays for the worst coach in the league, who can't set up a defensive scheme to save his life. If you take a look at Lindgren's stats you will see that he's been average as well, while looking like a capable goalie in the big leagues. This is all because of Lefebvre.

Shocking really that a member of one of the lowest scoring teams in the league, with the worst center depth in the league and the most immobile defense in the NHL is not having his usual elite performance. Also, +/- is such a flawed stat that you might as well make up random stats.
I didn't know the only meter to judge a player was his current season. Oh, Backstrom is having a down year? He must be literally garbage at this point, right?
The truth is Pacioretty is an elite 1st line winger in his prime, a perennial 30-goal scorer with a polished defensive game and the ability to play the PK, who's having a down year because he plays on one of the shittiest teams in the league. Add to this the fact that he is on a dirt cheap contract and that the Habs can even retain half of it, and you should understand why the ask is high your proposal is worth less than garbage, especially considering the market for rentals (which Pacioretty is not) in the past two years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Your profile calls you a "rational fanatic." I see the fanatic part here...
Reinhart is an NHL ready prospect, in that he's played 37 NHL games. When he plays closer to 18 minutes a night, he's been -6 with Edmonton. In 14 minutes a night with the league leading Golden Knights, he's even. Next year in Montreal, if he keeps getting stronger on his skates, he could play a top four role.
Honestly, emerging top four defenseman, plus first, second, third round pick, and a couple of young AHLers is more than the NHL trade values of guys like... Marian Hossa, Adam Oates, or PK Subban in their prime, so I'll stand by it.
But more to the point, giving one star to a team roster implies you don't think the team has improved.
If you just want more of Vegas' remaining trade assets, that's different from saying Pacioretty wouldn't be an amazing third line winger on an already good club. Your review of this team just shows a petty, egotistical focus on what's in it for your local club.
If you think you're saying the Knights can't afford Pacioretty, I'll point out that I still kept one of their first round picks from last year, a few decent prospects, and fourteen picks in the top four rounds of the '19 and '20 drafts.
I think all you've really said is that you've enjoyed cheering for Max Pacioretty, and you'll miss him when he's gone.
That's not really a criticism of me.</div></div>
Get your head out of your ass! I gave you 1 star because your Montreal trade is so dumb and detached from the real values of the players that it brings the overall value of the post down. I would have given you -3 stars if I could have. Your Griffin Reinhart assessment is the worst thing I've read on this board! He is a bust! he was left unexposed in the expansion draft because he sucks, he was put on waivers because he sucks and nobody claimed them because he sucks. Same thing for Matteau, he came to Montreal in exchange for a disappointing player (DSP), he played for Montreal and wasn't resigned because, as you can guess, he sucks! Another bust! Their overall value is minimal, if not zero. The value of rest of the pieces is not even close to Pacioretty.
You either have the worst, wrongest opinion about these players or you felt like you wanted to trade Patches to the Knights and picked random players, who are still fairly young to make it look like a good trade.
