Description

Spezza is losing his game. Hawks take his contract a 1st and Honka for Anisimov. This allows Dallas to resign some RFA's and make a move for a good D man. (I think Carlson would be a good fit).

There's no way MTL says no to that trade. Three 1st round picks. 1 in the top 10 and 2 in the 20's to 31. That gives them 2 top 10 picks for a legitimate 1C (Veleno) and whoever else they may have their eye on. Also they get a player in Duclair who is familiar with the area.

Hawks don't have time for prospect development. Move the picks, go all in.

Why can't they give both? Do they want to rebuild or are they just going to be indecisive again this season?

Don't think rebuild is in the cards with Bergefail. retool is the most likely direction. Gallagher stays

To get a 2C on a cheaper term to play with Radulov though? Opening up space for big free agent names.

Dallas are not in position to sign great UFAs, since they are going to be more expensive than normal due to small amount of them. They need to resign Seguin after the next season, as well as some other players, like Lindell, Honka, Janmark etc. Spezza's term is ending at the same time, which is why Dallas doesn't even need to get rid of him. Besides, Anisimov isn't even that much of an upgrade from Spezza - they both has quite similar amount of points.

And Radulov will play in the first-line, so they wouldn't even play together.

You act like Gallagher is too old to be a part of a new corps. He isn't, and he is on a very sweet contract. Two firsts may be enough for Pacioretty (on par with what Lucic fetched from LA, but Patch is better and on a cheaper contract), but another first is not enough for Gallagher, especially if you want salary to be retained.
