You are giving up a lot but you are getting good players in return. Tough call. Would help getting stronger down the middle. I still do not like the top 6 D on this team. Alzner and Petry have played a lot as a pairing and thei plus minus stinks. Especially Petry. Can Jerabek be strong enough for top prairing for an entire season?

Alzner and Petry have terrible plus/minus because they are getting the most ice time and the toughest matchups now that Weber is out. Neither is a top-pairing dman either so the assignments they get are a bit too hard for their capabilities.

Excellent point, but Petry has a history of terrible plus minus. Some people discredit that stat and it is very true sometimes you step on the ice and you get scored on and sometimes you step off and your team scores but that can be measured internally. It is still a telling and revealing stat about defensive responsibilities.

TORZ DOESNT LIKE PAC. CBJ IS NOT TRADING DUBOIS. THEY ARE WEAK DOWN THE MIDDLE AS OF NOW. IN FACT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A CENTER. PLS STOP WITH THE DUBOIS TRADES.

There is just so much the plus/minus doesn't take into account. The stat alone doesn't tell you much about the player's actual level of play. It's always better to use the advanced metrics for player analysis. Players on bad teams generally tend to have terrible plus/minus because they get outplayed as a team, it doesn't necessarily make you a bad player. In Petry's case, he does have awful plus/minus stats throughout his career but he was arguably the best (and most exposed) dman in the horrendous Oilers team and now is having the same role in the horrendous Habs team. In between, when the Habs were good and he was having 2nd pairing minutes and matchups like he should, his plus/minus was pretty much neutral. It's not a coincidence.

I agree with you, but the question still remains, why are the other teams out working and out hustling us. Confidence is a powerful thing. Teams need to play with a quiet confidence, a little swagger. MTL does not have that this year. The question is why. At the beginning of the year I was saying we need two 4th line forwards that love to hit. Deslauriers is doing a great job but he also won the honors on the team for December. What does that say about the other 9 forwards on the team? Granted it did not help at all, that Weber hurt his foot in the 1st game of the year and tried to play through the pain until he was shut down. Everyone says trade Patch. I would only trade him if he landed a true #1 C.
