Why Not.....

Description
The lines might be jumbled a bit, but the 2 headliners is this deal (Reinhart and Bennett) were picked just 2 selections apart and have put up very similar numbers this year. Reinhart has a better track record, but that's why Calgary add Poirer to the deal.

What needs to be added from either side to make this change of scenery trade work out?

I don't see any reason why Calgary makes this trade. Bennett, since being paired with Jankowski, is right back on track. Bennett had his development impacted by an injury, and awful circumstances (bad/awful linemates except for the one year he played with Backlund).

Bennett is back on track.

I absolutely agree with everything you said here.

Although I think Sam Reinhart could be a target for Brad at the deadline, he won't be moving anyone off our roster.. it would be likely a defense prospect +... I like Reinhart and think he could be a nice fit long term to play with Jank/Benny going forward.

Reinhart has been trending down, while Bennett has been trending up. I don't see any reason for the Flames to make this deal, even just straight up Sam for Sam.

I'd take him at the right price, still has loads of IQ and has great vision... it's gotta be pretty tough to succeed in buffalo with that situation and expectations.

What do you think? What would you give Up?

Right now it's an even 3 vs 3 on the poll..... I voted Calgary wins because I think Reinhart has the better track record. If Buffalo could get anything out of Poirier the deal may change, but I think he could be a lost cause.

I'd do Michael Stone & Oliver Kylington or something along those lines. Buffalo needs help everywhere, but especially on the back end. I don't think I would want to give up much beyond that because I don't think Reinhart has the footspeed to be an impact player like they were hoping for. Reminds me of a higher level Curtis Lazar.
