Really..? I can't imagine Barrie is worse defensively than Gardiner, and he is clearly better offensively. Bracco/2nd doesn't seem crazy especially with the extra year on a nice contract.

Gardiner is underrated in his offensive and defensive abilities. He has the occasional brain fart (which btw since being paired with Hainsey they have been a lot less lately) and Bracco is overlooked because he's in the Leafs organization but he's a DAMN good player. Him alone (maybe a mid round pick too) should be able to Barrie. Bracco is the Connor Brown of the AHL. Loads of talent, but overlooked cause of Kapanen, Johnsson, Aaltonen, Grundstrom etc. And yes Barrie has the extra year but he's gonna want to get PAID after that and the Leafs can't afford. So you're giving up Bracco and a pick for an extra year of a solid defenceman? That's not good asset management... but who am I to say cause it looks like the Leafs are keeping all 3 of Bozak, JVR, Leo into UFA, instead of trading them which is even worse asset management so again... who am I to judge...

ROFLMAO @ Gardiner gets you Barrie alone. If Sakic has half a brain he passes and takes a good deal for Barrie from another team.

I never said it'd be a 1 for 1 deal, just said that Gardiner is very underrated. As for Sakic walking away, okay fine. Leafs don't need to make a move. I'm content with who we have in the system. But I don't think you're gonna get what you think you will...

On Gardiner being underrated or Leafs have to make a move?

On Gardiner being underrated or my thinking that the Avs will get what I think Barrie is worth. Either/or. As I said, we'll have to agree to disagree.
