Description

Nashville Trades for Pacioretty from MTL. This gives them scoring depth needed for a great cup run. MTL gets rights to Fabbro (a grade A d prospect), Aberg (a forward who lights up the AHL but is having issues translating to the NHL), a 1st rounder, and another prospect.

A combination of salary cap rising and a reduction in goaltender salary will make re-signing Ellis and Patches possible though some salary (i.e. Bones/Smith) may need to be shed to extend Fiala but their loss will likely be covered by Eeli Tolvanen.

Although Aberg (imo just a depth player) and Richard (small 5’9 C) don’t add that much. It would be really hard to turn down a deal with Fabbro in it.

But you can also argue Habs need a Left Handed puck mover, and Fabbro is a righty.

Counter offer!!!:
Patches ($2.2mil retained) + Byron for Fabbro + Tolvanen + 2nd rd pick + conditional 2020 2nd pick if NSH resigns Patches + conditional 2020 4th rd pick if NSH resigns Byron.

Pacioretty (30goals) + Byron (20goals) so roughly 50 extra goals added to your roster for 2 years for a cheap combined cap hit of $3.5mil for 3 assets. With an option to keep one or both.
