Well, if they have the 1st Overall Pick, obviously Dahlin. However, Svechnikov would look real nice next to McDavid imo.

TOP-3 would be Dahlin, Svechnikov and Brady Tkachuk. If Oilers would be picking 1st overall - Dahlin, if 2nd - Svechnikov, if 3rd - Tkachuk.. if Oilers receive 4th overall pick, I would draft Adam Boqvist, RHD defenceman with great speed, hands and vision. Playing Erik Karlsson style of play. Needs to play simple and for example with Andrej Sekera, who is good defensively, he would be really great. He can develop into superstar offensive defenceman after few years, but needs to work on his game in his own end, aaand Oilers would need to practice something they don't really know how to practice.. the patience! Outside top-3, for me is Boqvist to Oilers.

1. Is drafting a new GM an option? wink
2. Does it matter, if they keep the same GM?
3. If it isn't 1st overall, should they trade or trade down for more immediate help?
4. If they draft another skilled forward, will they actually trade one or two of the ones they already have, in order to build a better lineup?

I’m like 95% sure Boqvist will play at least one full year of SHL hockey against men, gain a few pounds, dominate like Pettersson is doing now (leading that league), he will likely want to play World Juniors and dominate (never played WJ yet). In the mean time, I like Boqvist as a top 5 potential pick for the Oilers. He has more Karlsson qualities to him then Dahlin, but Dahlin is in a class and style of his own. I just think that just like how Karsson was when drafted, he was almost the same height and weight as Boqvist, maybe even smaller. Karlsson took a year and half to develop and really put on weight, expect the same for Boqvist, best not to rush defense, especially when the upside could be huge. btw after Sekera’s injury, he hasn’t been noticable defensively or offensively lately, it makes me wonder if he came from injury too early.

Well apparently it’s
1.)Dahlin
then..
2a.)Zadina
2b.)Svechnikov
2c.)Tkachuk
As of now, and I see all 3 wingers looking great with McDavid, Zadina looked better than Svechnikov at the top prospects game and World Juniors, loves using his speed, IQ and shot to be dynamic

Hopefully not Kupari, I see him as the Necas of this draft, had to prove he was top 10 at the World Juniors and blew it. Still has skills and entangibles that wows scouts and a right shot C/W, he’s just inconsistent.

One player who interests me if the Oilers are late Top 10, is RD Evan Bouchard, he’s a riser and played better than Noah Dobson in the top prospects game, he has the potential to be a #1 Dman, and will be one of the more mature D coming out of this draft with 3 solid seasons playing for one of the best programs in the CHL in London. Big two way D with elite play making abilities and can join rushes smartly, has a wicked slap shot that can compare to the best in the draft class, 58 points in 46 games and Knights aren’t even stacked anymore, it’s crazy.
On a side not, I’m hoping Oilers acquire a late 1st rounder and select LW Dominik Bokk, creative, speedy right handed winger with a good shot, he’s German and plays a game so very similar to David Pastrnak

In the 2nd round maybe Merkley, Addison, McDonald if they drop that far, and keep in mind some players like Khovanov, Wise, Dudas, Fonstad, Olofsson,Hallander, F.Johansen, Dellandrea, Kurashev, Eggenberger, if any fall to the later rounds.

doesn't matter at all. when you finish out of the playoffs you need plenty of help at every position.

If they get Svechnikov, who has high hockey IQ, skill and shot, he would play with McDavid and I believe they will have Gretzky-Kurri kind of magic combination on ice and it would be amazing.
If they get Tkachuk, battle of Alberta would be interesting because of Matthew-Brady duels! And Brady would be great alongside McD. He is tough and will be not just support McDavid with great game but will protect him because we know tkachuks right?
If they get Zadina, I actually see him playing with Draisaitl. His passing skills, technique and vision alongside good shot and scoring touch would match right with Draisaitl's game.

Bouchard is great and would be a force in the NHL. As many said, and me too, this draft is so deep with talent and skill that even many players from 2nd/3rd round might become NHL stars.

In Bouchard I see Shea Weber type of defenceman. Great offence and great defence. Highly intelligent and effective in his own end and in the offensive end too. In my mock draft I have Bouchard (with defenders) just below Dahlin and Boqvist (who are going to be superstars). I see great things in him. Just like I saw with DeBrincat. I had DeBrincat in top-10. Kupari would not be NHLer. Bokk playing with Draisaitl? Does not sound bad!! :P

Merkley is 1st round pick, he will be taken between 22-27th overall. In 2nd round Vitali Kravtsov might be taken by EDM in the beginning of the 2nd round. He has the size and skill to be top-9 forward in NHL.

Top 2 are must picks. Svech and Dahlin. Anything after that I hope they get Tkachuk. Think of the rivalry

Would love to land Tkachuk. Hoping for a late first and get Serron Noel. McBain could look good with a late first or early second. Bokk with a second would be sweet.

I think we need one of the first 5 picks in the 2nd if Bokk even drops at all, I just think he’s going near 20 up. Even though I’d prefer Bokk more, Serron Noel would be a great pick, Big Not fast, but not slow, creative, has hands, think Anthony Mantha, so not bad. McBain could also fall as well which would be nice, but idk I think finding a right handed C should be ideal.
