18% of the cap tied up in a single player... 40% of the cap tied up in 3 players for the next 7 years...Not so sure that's a good plan.

Pretty reasonable Patches offer, if both teams felt the need to do it I could see this being about right. But even with the money retained, I think there would still need to be a cap hit going to MTL - Blues are saving but will only have about $1M in space at the TDL.

if mtl can find a way to get rid of alzner, we're willing to take cap back. this team is for the 18-19 season. so if u guys have a contract that u want to get rid of, and is a ufa after the 17-18 season, mtl would take him. i mean, for the pitts trade we took back hagelin/

Not just that, I don't see Thomas being traded by the Blues. They have true top center prospect for the first time in a long time. They won't give that up for another winger

Yeah, I've stopped debating that on here - it's clear that MTL fans are obsessed with Thomas haha. I really hope the Blues don't trade Thomas, I was just pointing out that IMO this value might be fair... I don't think MTL would be getting more than 1 of the big 4 guys just because of Armstrong's quotes/hints at evaluating our future needs.

It does seem to be Thomas or Thomas+ for all Montreal fans. Guess they don't realize the Blues also have a need for true centers beyond this year. I only see Thomas being moved if the Blues can land Tavares which is extremely unlikely to happen, although it could be the best possible spot.

I think the need for contributors on ELCs becomes even more apparent if JT were to sign in STL, and you could argue that Thomas is needed even more.

Possibly. We have wingers like Kyrou, Kostin, Thompson Blais who could still make an impact. We would need Thomas if Schenn decided to walk in a couple years so I get your point.
