Rebuild...or...is it?

Created by: senators55
Team: 2017-18 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 2, 2018
Published: Feb. 2, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Shows what moves would be made this deadline and summer...what's next September going to look like? (created players are drafted or signed players)...

It would look like the start of a rebuild, but with a big signing, and what will shape up to be the best D in the league after a season of experience, this team would turn into a perennial cup contender (and still have a stockpile of picks and prospects like: Formenton, Batherson, Englund, Aston-Reese, and Gagne)

Brassard and Chlapik can fill in as a centre if Brown or White are having too many growing pains as well.

The Claesson trade makes no sense at all. worth more than a 4th, And definitely a better player than Phaneuf and Ceci at the very least.

Think you're a bit under the dollar values on Tavares, Stone, and likely Ceci's contracts, while already having a salary cap set at the highest possible projection, and with an owner who won't spend that money. Lots of issues.

PIT runs with that deal.

It’s a good thing that your GM is asking A LOT more than that.

Boy it would be fun to see what that top line could do! Unfortunately, I have to agree with most of the other comments, the dollars just don't make sense. I do agree with many of your opening comments though. Things are not as bleak as some would have us believe.

If you look at the numbers I have here, The LTIR includes Stone and Ceci (I did that just so I can show them at their new cap hits). Additionally, Brassard makes $3M or less in real dollars next year.

Other than that I made a couple minor adjustments for anyone who thought a salary was unfair or a trade was unfair (I'm not worried about getting more than a 4th for Claesson, expiring contrat, and healthy scratch lol)
