Good trade. Kapanen has proven nothing since being drafted 4 years ago, but has upside. Tvr can step in and play

Kapanen hasn't been given play time. He has a lot of good assets and trading them for a 6/7 d-man would be absurd.

Kapanen is going to be play regular minutes for Leafs next year. TVR isn't good enough to replace another Dman on the Leafs lineup/

This notion that every leafs player would be a star if only they played more is silly.

Last year it was rychel, now its Kapanen and leivo.

Most good players are regulars in the 4th season after their draft year

I did like the fact that littlejerry couldn't answer the question who tvr would replace on the leafs defence. the fact that TVRisn't any better than the leafs top seven, makes the the trade absurd for the for the Leafs.

Here's the anti leaf again. Rychel didnt even play last season at all with the leafs, what are you on about? Kapanen has played on the 4th line for the leafs his entire time here, obviously hes not going to get points. Man, I suggest you start watching games and stats before opening your mouth to trash on the leafs.

sorry for hurting your feelings. I am not anti leafs, nor am I delusional.

I call them as I see them. When people try to steal marner or nylander for a 2nd pairing defensmen or an awful contract I call them out too.

But I also call out the awful trades like bozak, gardiner and rychel for drew doughty we saw over the summer

I also think that leafs fans should at least be concerned about or admit that kapanen is behind in his development, or realize a guy like leivo isnt a real nhl player.

Instead we see trades like leivo, who is almost 25 years old and has 10 goals to his name get a 2nd round pick. or flat out guarantees that kapanenen is a stud.

If he was so good, why would you sign marleau? why are hyman and brown ahead of him? they are nice players, but they don't have to be top 6 guys. the way leafs fans talk about kapanen, why is he playing on the 4th line?

if he is so good, you find a way to get him atleast into your top 9 on a regular basis.

rant over. sorry you guys can't see that you are just homers.

just because a guy puts up points in the AHL doesn't mean hes a future NHL star. ask tj brennan, seth griffith, kerby rychel and the dozens of other guys who have done it.

Wow, you really don't watch any games do you? You do realize there is an experinced and solid coach behind the bench making the line ups right? and there is chemistry that goes into a team right? Hyman is fantastic and does exactly what Matthews and Babcock want him to do, hence why hes on the first line. Brown is a talented defensive player that gets the job done wherever you place him. Signing Marleau was to add leadership to a group that was sorely lacking it. You think they signed him for the goals? pfft, They are 7th on differential in goals.

Leafs are straight up a hard team to make. They have great depth everywhere, and players like Kap and Leivo find it hard to crack the line up. When Lievo was playing top min with Kadri, he was a PPG player last year. Kap has been great even on the 4th line, so yes, they are worth alot more then you think.

Hasn't proved anything?? Kapanen has proved to be one of the fastest skaters if not the fastest on the team. He came to the team as an offensive prospect but has embraced a fourth line and penalty killing role. He has 3 goals and 1 assist in 12 games and is a +1. If that isn't proving something I don't know what is. Not everyone scores 30+ goals or puts up 70+ points, but that doesn't mean they don't have a major upside. Kapanen has the potential to become a 3rd or even 2nd line winger that can resemble Connor Brown in the next 2 years. Also, what is the point of picking up a rental 6th defenceman when he will only be played rotationally?
