Rangers say no when we're getting 1st round offers elsewhere. We'd do straight up for Kapanen or Dermott if you don't want a 1st coming back.

haha Toronto getting Faulk for fringe NHL players and an expiring contract in JVR? Definatley not. I can only see the Leafs moving Leivo or Martin at the trade deadline, I don't see them doing much more than that. Most work will be done in the summer.

Holl is a ridiculous overpayment for a few games of Grabner. Kapanen or Dermott is an absolute pipedream.

Leafs have no need for grabner, especially at those prices for a guy to play on the 4th line. Not a good fit

Agreed. Don't think he's a good fit for you guys, who are stocked at wings. If you want to talk about McDonagh that's a conversation though.

A 26 year old who is a career AHL guy isn't worth someone who has more goals than Crosby Seguin or Ovechkin the last 2 years?

There's a lot on here about Leafs fans overvaluing their roster, but this is a new level. Martin Hanzal got a 1st, 2nd, and a prospect. I understand you guys don't need him. But other teams do and they're offering more.

McDonagh is a great player but his cost will be far too high considering the Leafs already have a fairly stacked left D, Riley, Gardiner, Dermott, Borgman etc.

You realize he has a lot of experience on the Right side and would easily switch right? Is that the only thing holding you back? I figured winning the cup potentially in the next 2 years might be worth Kapanen and Dermott. But if it doesn't mean that much to you then that's fine.

Babcock is one of those coaches who really doesn't like playing defenders on their off side.
I'm just happy with the team the Leafs have already and would rather not trade our cost controlled talented youngers for a defender about to hit UFA who will get a massive contract taking him into his later 30s. I would rather extend the Leafs window that go all in for the next 2 years then have to dismantle the team.

Don't disagree with you. If you think you guys could manage the cap to keep the entire core, then more power to ya.

It's not about Holl, it's about Grabner. If some other Moron GM wants to bet the farm on a depth player like Hanzel or Grabner, let them. These guys are actually starting to learn though, the rental market is dropping as is the free agent price tag on July 1st.

Why would the Leafs spend anything more than a bare 3rd rounder to upgrade their 4th line wing? A contract has to be included the other way but it will be a cast off not an ahl all-star that plays the exact position they're so thin at.

grabner has 23 goals. hes not playing 4th line left wing. nonwithstanding what this guy did.

He doesn't crack the top nine of the Leafs and any team that adds him should know all they're getting is speed.

He actually sums up the Rangers as a team quite well. Mediocre at hockey but has a few nice breakaways.

A 2nd and a warm body was the best they could do.

Yes, moving 15-20 picks down from late 1st to mid 2nd and adding kid putting up Orlov numbers in KHL (which i guess qualifies for warm body lol) is all they could do.

Jets had their 1st on the table. They took a solid prospect and a mid second (as opposed to late 2nd) instead.

Just want to acknowledge that because he's not a leafs prospect, the kid who's been leading the U21 D-men in the KHL in basically every statistical category for the past couple years qualifies as a "warm body",

You know we turned down the 1st rounder from Winnipeg to get this deal right? lol go home.

Mentioning Grabner in the same breath as Crosby, Ovechkin, and Seguin is on par with comparing the warm body to Orlov.
You can sell it however you like but the reality is that a 2nd and a mid level prospect was a good return for Grabner.
