Description

Trying to put on paper what would be interesting options to get us both prospects and picks back. The idea is to not destroy the team while attempting to gain back picks and prospects. Took on some cap dumps aswell to make cap work.

Get our 4th rounder back once LA is confirmed to have made the playoffs.

We get a 4th instead of the 5th if Montoya plays 7 games as per the conditions on the original trade.

Both are rentals but help the push for hat trick in the playoffs. Pleky as 3C and Byron on either wing to fill in holes.

Not sure on the value of the PHI trade as I dont know much about their prospect pool. I think the PIT trade works but may need to add a pick on MTL side to make it work.

So you tried to dump him for 4 months..then he gets 4 points in 5 games and he no longer is a cap dump. Yeah ok, I can tell how you like your Crosby and Malkin elevated players. Btw, Byron has had more points than Hagelin for 1/4th the cap hit.

Even if you don't consider Hagelin a cap dump, that's good value for Pittsburgh. Byron easily replaces Hagelin next season, for almost 1/4th the price. A 1st and two minor pieces for both Plekanec and Byron is a bargain.

Hagelin fits the Penguins identity to a glove, he’s a very good PKer, and we works very well with Malkin, Kessel, Hornqvist.

Sure, his cap hit isn’t good ... but at the same we don’t NEED to move Hagelin inseason because of it.
