I truely believe the Oilers should be somewhere between last years overcharging team and this years atrocity. The team this year needs to be revamped come deadline to give some new life to the team.

What would make it more fair since Drai >> Zib so I figured the other pieces evened it out more

Montreal needs a top-6 Centre more than anything right now. There isnt really anywhere for Chunky on the team. If you combine the fact that Nuge > Chunky and the need MTL has the picks compensate. Think a bit before you trash others please

Zib beats Drai in most important deeper stats- expected goals, rel possession numbers. etc and is 3 mil cheaper. Not trying to say Zib is any better. But Drai gets a huge boost from Conor. I wouldn't put the difference at more than a 2nd + 4th. As in Drai = Zib + 2nd + 4th.

But McDonagh is worth way more than that compared to Russell who frankly has negative value. With the team already with Marc Staal, you'd have to take him back in any deal involving Russell. And I'd say Stall + 3rd = Russell.

McDonagh = something like your 1st this year + Yamamoto + 2nd.

So doing that math it that comes out to Zib + 2nd + 4th + Staal + 3rd + McDonagh = Draisaitl + Russell + 2018 1st + Yamamoto + 2nd.

If you want to kill the redundancy it looks like: Zib + McDonagh + Staal + 3rd + 4th for Draisaitl + Russell + Yamamoto + 2018 1st.

If you want players instead of picks it'd be something like Zib + McDonagh + Staal + Holden for Draisaitl + Russell + Yamamoto + 2018 1st.

I think this is the start of something good, Rangers would certainly be interesting in a deal based around McDonagh and Draisatl. However, I can't see them giving up Zibanejad although it certainly is possible.

Not sure if I'd do that exact deal, but I will take your suggestions under advisement and make some changes.

I added Benson instead of Yammy, since the Oil management is high on Yamma Jamma and wont move him. I also put in Sekera instead because even though he has a bigger contract he is a much better player than Russell. Lastly a changed the picks a bit

Yeah Rangers don't take the deal. They probably didn't take the last one, I was being conservative with values. And they don't take this one.

Easy way to look at this is Zib + 3rd for Drai and McD for the rest. And the rest isn't even in the ballpark. 90% of the value. of the value was in the rest. Sekara is a totally fine player but he's 31, injury prone and on a mediocre contract. He has minimal value to us. Most of the value I described is in your lottery pick and Yamamoto and you nixed that from the deal.

I hate to harp on the point but this poor valuation is echoed in the rest of your deals. I'd say Galchenyuk has more value than RNH and you're asking for a lottery pick back? Cammalleri doesn't have much value at all.

Tkatchuk,wahlstrom,kuparie are probably ready in a team that has no center.
Nugent Hopkins for the first streigh up might be fair but I wouldn't do it

None of them are centres at the next level except for maybe Kupari. Kupari didn't look comfortable at world juniors much less NHL ready

@Max

The BOE has taken a look at the Nic Petan deal, and it was given a trade rating of 5.00 for Edmonton and 1.00 for Winnipeg. After discussion, all 5 board members agreed the deal will need to be rationalized and looked at. Cammalleri is an aging rental who is no longer an everyday top 6 player, while Petan, despite being in the minors for most of the year, remains a very good prospect, and a 2nd was added on top of that. At your earliest convenience, please stop by the messages to the BOE thread and state: why you think the deal is fair, what benefit you received from the deal and whether you believe it is revision worthy.

Thanks,
@Icegirl, on behalf of the BOE

(Sorry; I couldn't resist. But that's a very bad deal for WPG.)

You are correct, I very well see them all play a role on the wing in the NHL, especially Kupari since he’s smaller, just like Aho, he was drafted a center, played it a bit, but with his small stature, skill, style which is similar to Kupari, he was more efficient on the wings.
