Team: 2017-18 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 11, 2018
Published: Feb. 11, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Krüger can help the team as their fourth line center, penalty kill (They're almost at 83% so it's already good). Better option then Moore and 50% retained salary.
Green can boost the powerplay.

Could this be the small boost the team need?

If Kruger was difference, why was waived by the Canes? You're thinking of Kruger that existed year ago, not the current model. And certainly not Grundstrom in a trade.

I like what u did for Kruger take him but make them retain but you didn’t give up enough to get Green. I wouldn’t trade Loverde I would put Martin instead since he’s not being used anyways unlike Loverde who is a top 2 d in the minors

I honestly don't know anything about Loverde. Only picked him because he didn't seem worthless, turnes 29 this year and has a year left on his contract. I wanted to get rid of an extra contract to get in Green and didn't want to dump a younger player who still got time to develope.
Green will most likely fetch a 2nd and a 3rd, but the Leafs don't have a third in this year so I picked a fourth. In my head it's a fourth with conditions of reaching the conference finals but I didn't bother typing it out. My biggest problem with the Green-trade is that teams usually don't want to trade within their own division, often not in their own conference.
Therefor I would say that Canucks is a more likely trade-partner, with Gudbranson being the player. But he's a defensive defender and it's help from the blue line on powerplay Toronto needs.

First: Not a leafs fan, a hockey fan.. who hates Boston and Philadelphia..
Second: The word among the experts is that the fourth line center is the forward-issue in Toronto. Krüger has proven himself in Chicago for years, with 2 rings to show, and got a poor deal in Canes were they wanted him to be something he's not. In Toronto he'd be on the PK and 4th and playing under Babcock who's a much much much better coach then Bill Peters! I think he'd be perfect there.

Joel Quenville is a top tier coach alongside Mike Babcock. Krueger's career high is 28 points which came 5 years ago. He (if Canes retain) will be making close to 1.6 mill as a 4th line centre... Is that really worth it? No imo. Must be another reason then he sucks if the Blackhawks and Canes gave up on him. Much rather have Moore, and if not him, Altonen play there. We have the best option as well in Komarov, who can play centre if need be there.

Nobody want the 3m pricetag for 18/19. Trade with 50% retained (that's why Grundstrom, he can be a great player but Toronto have Johansson, Tymashov, Kapanen and more so they can afford it to not pay 1,5m extra) and after being waived he can be moved up and down without passing again.
The player he "was a year ago" is still there, he's gone from coach Q to coach FU (Peters) who is just a terrible coach.. If he was traded to Toronto and put to play in Babcocks style of play in the defensive role he does so well then he'd thrive once more.

And with coach Q he was fantastic. He got traded because of the cap, nothing else. They were VERY clear about that from the start! He still got two SC, he's not a point producer but he's very smart and can win the important faceoffs. In blackhawks he often had to play against the oppontents top lines and no matter what you say he's the type of guy you want on a play-off team! Less then a year ago he won the WC gold, put him in a better team with a better coach and some decent environtment. Komarov - Krüger - Kapanen..... that's nice!

I don't buy that stuff about the Canes having bad coaching. They are in a playoff spot right now. If Kruger was near effective, not waived or certainly picked up by another team. C'mon you need a better facts than would you presented.

Other then it being Grundstrom, I'm not hating this. It's good prices on both. I think it doesn't help. Definitely doesn't hurt.
