Alex Lyon is hardly a prospect anymore. His ceiling is very limited and he has been shaky in his time with Philaelphia.

Rather have Radko Gudas and keep those assets than trade for, while a lethal sniper, a locker room headache with young kids cominig up.

I love Ryan Hartman, but I'd think it would cost more than Sam Morin.

Kris Russell is one of the worst defensemen in the league. No way I would want to take on that contract.

Travis Sanheim has the upside to become Jacob Trouba, so I don't want to move him, especially after pouring 3-4 years of development into him.

Dale Weise at $3.5M is NOT something Edmonton is interested in.

The cap hit is 2.35M. I'd think that even at 3.5M anyone would want to rid themselves of Kris Russell

Do the math: ($2.35M x 2) + ($0.8M x 3 retained on Russell) / 2 years of player service = $3.55M.

We could buyout Russell's contract for less.

On pace for 30 points with virtually zero power play time and you think we'd 'do anything' to get rid of his contract? You have a funny sense of value.

I was specifically talking about Dale Weise's contract, not the compounded value with the retained salary,

He is a defensive liability and is well hated by all advanced analytical communities.

I know, but we have to consider the cap hit for the whole transaction. Dale Weise is not worth $3.55M x 2 to us, he just isn't.

But his coach loves him and so does his GM. Anyhow, as I said earlier, if they wanted to be rid of him they'd just buyout his contract - no need to take back a worse contract.

That seems like a whole pile of nothing going to the sabres for kane and the sad cap dump known as bogosian.

Ok, here are Russell's stats vs Weise's:
49.2 CF% 44.64
50.97 FF% 43.25
50.78 SF% 43.33
49.33 GF% 33.33
61.56 CA/60 62.99
42.22 FA/60 47.20
30.78 SA/60 33.21

Yeah, the advanced stats aren't convincing me to trade this "defensive liability" for Dale Weise.

I'm not advocating for this trade, but I am only affirming that Russell is a defensive liability. His CF% rel is awful, his shot supression is awful. He is universally hated by all advanced analytic communities, and does not have many other advanced stats going his way.

Well of course his CFREL is awful - he's a shot blocker! What part of that don't you understand??

Oh, I didn't really know that about Lyon. Thought he was a decent prospect. I think I might've mixed him up with Hart - even though I wouldn't really even consider replacing Lyon with him in that trade, Hart was great in WJHC.

Bogosian would bring some offensivity to the team, thus why I did the trade. And in order to bring back some defense, I acquired Russell, although that might've been a mistake when considering it now.

In that Hartman case, I think that Blackhawks are more in need of d-man than a winger, which is why Hartman might be sold with a little bit under his value. This ofc will be done only if the asset they're getting is fitting to their system.

Sanheim might have the potential of Trouba, yes, but why not to take the exact piece to compare? He is a RHD, and Flyers do have a lack on that part.

I respect your opinion though. You have several good points.

Trouba isn't signing that garbage contract, Reportedly he wants 7 x $7.5 million on his next deal and i doubt he wants to play in Philly.

His Fenwick rel is also bad (Fenwick does not include blocked shots).
