I feel really good about this.

Description
**Revision from before** Grabner has been traded on here 1,000 times already, but combined with the Ryan trade I like the overall outcome of this scenario. Solid team for a run, yet hanging on to most of your major assets. It's also more realistic than Brassard. Fair?

I would absolutely not make that deal with Carolina. Pens don't need to move up in the draft, and Shear is a lot more valuable to the team than a 30+ year old with less than 125 NHL games

The main reason I did it was to save other major assets but more importantly free up a little cap space for the offseason, while still getting better this year. That trade makes it easier to give up a first for Grabner as well. We also have to consider that GMJR could have a rocky relationship with Carolina still, so if we want a right handed 4C, its either step up for Ryan, waste assets on Letestu, or move salary out to fit Plekanec in. Just my rationale.
