VGK acquires Brassard with salary retained by the sens.. then deal him to the pens retaining some of his salary as well. Not sure if that counts as cap circumvention or something but if it works that is absolute wizardry by Rutherford.

    What madness. If this all shakes out in our favor, we could really use a bottom pair/depth D. I bet you're right about the double retention though.

    Yea and the league has apparently vetoed the trade and told the parties involved to make it "more to their satisfaction." Translation: Rutherford probably tried to set it up as a 3 way trade like the duchene-turris deal but with the double retention caveat the league wants them to be two separate transactions to make it compliant with the cap rules.
