Without Orpik They're under the cap. He only has one year left. They're getting the best goalie prospect in the NHL, a solid young d, and a first round pick in a deep draft, plus a third.

too much. Leave Samsonov out and put in someone like Grubi. Samsonov is our future starter once Holts' contract is over

Holtby's only 28, and i don't think it's enough with grubi. I'd rather hold on to him for a playoff run, and trade him in the offseason, if they cant afford to re-sign him.

Never mind that OEL is Mr. Futility right now, Washington would be ludicrous to trade Djoos for OEL straight up. Or desperate for minutes at left D, but they just acquired Jerabek and Kempny to push Djoos to the press box until the fall and eat minutes.

I'm sorry, Whiff, but I just don't think the Caps are desperate enough to trade two firsts for an offensive defenseman who scores slower than their healthy scratch.

Wow I worked too hard on kerning that table for the website to just single space everything. But Djoos gets a point for every 51 minutes played at evens this year. OEL gets a points for every 64 minutes played at evens. Again, Djoos is a rookie and a healthy scratch at the moment with the Caps, and is the smallest piece in the above ridiculously generous trade offer.

But if we're assuming that plus minus and offense and all the other individual stats are just team stats, then why not a sign and trade for Carlson, whom Washington haven't signed yet, Washington sends a second to Vegas to eat half of OEL's salary, and Arizona throws in Luke Schenn for Jakub jerabek??

Generous trade offer....think long and hard Zona has no need for a 37yr old dman making that money so Djoos and picks are basically to take him off your hands...so OEL for Samsonov?....zona gm is young but not stupid...he'll definitely get way better offers for Larsson...and you figure the caps all time leader in sv pct is better...c'mon man get serious!!!

Ekman-Larsson. Larsson plays in Edmonton. Otherwise, well-trolled. Slow clap. Why on Earth would Arizona trade for a thirty-something defenseman with a Stanley Cup ring who only plays 20 minutes this year Coughjalmarssoncough.

you're underestimating OEL, on the caps i could easily see him putting up 65-70 points. He's playing on the worst team in the NHL.

People have good and bad years, so.... maybe. Bear in mind that the only guy who has played left point on the Caps power play in two years is Alex Ovechkin, and that Ekman Larsson has scored 44 of his 94 career goals on the power play, and then look over his even strength point totals by year: https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/e/ekmanol01.html

I don't think he's passed 30. OEL on the Caps is like Christian Djoos with twice the endurance and ten times the salary.

Intriguing stat line, and there is certainly something to be said for buying low on Mr. Futility, but this is not a low enough price for the nominal worst player in the NHL this year.
