I love Monahan but I really feel like without Gaudreau he would be invisible on a lot of nights

I agree. A lot of his scoring chances are from Gaudreau feeding him unreal passes. When he isn't scoring he is really do nothing.

Whether Monahan is purely a result of Gaudreau or not, I don't see why you trade a 23 year old top line centre who's averaging close to 30 goals a season for anything if you're a club coming out of the rebuilding years.

Biggest problem? Center is arguably where we have most depth. Our bottom 4 D is a tire fire. After this trade try to package Brodie for another top 6 fwd and pair hanifin with hamonic

??? This post makes no sense you clearly lay out the problem that if Gaudreau wasn't there Monahan doesn't have the numbers he does now. But you still wouldn't trade him for a 20 year old defenceman who is looking like a future #1 D man. If Monahan had better skating and a little better puck handling I don't trade him but he does have flaws and he doesnt make a difference when he's not scoring

Im talking about scoring not depth at C. I dont think trading our top scorer is a good idea. Im down for trading and someone like a bennett or ferland. But the top 9 needs improving there is 1 missing piece on both the 1st and 3rd line.

Scoring is definitely a problem but when gio and Hamilton aren't on the ice we give up chance after chance and we have a hell of a time getting the puck out of our own zone. I dunno I guess it's a matter of opinion about which is a bigger problem, but I just see the defence the way it is now and the amount of shots we've given up all year it needs to be fixed.
