This is a great thought, but 2 things:
1. The Senators are trying to trade Ryan because of his bad contract, and Seabrook’s is just another one for even longer term than Ryan’s. A 4th round pick wont do anything in this deal.
2. If the Sens need a RHD after trading Karlsson, they have short term and long term options that could all b cheaper than Seabrook (Carlson, Green, or trade EK for another RHD).

Ryan may be hard to move for the Sens because of his deal. Best move may simply be a buyout although next summer that would mean he's on the pay roll for 8 seasons...

Chicago may have more incentive to make this trade. With another expansion draft coming, moving Seabrook would allow them to free up a spot to protect a D man as Seabrook has an NMC. Maybe they kick in a higher pick in order to get the deal done. For Ottawa Seabrook could be a good soldier to lead them through a rebuild while also not having to buy Bobby Ryan out

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me. Not sure Seabrook would waive for Sens either

Seabrook's contract is just as bad or worse than Ryan's. if we take back bad cap, it should be Troy Brouwer.

It's a weird idea but I thought of trading Bobby Ryan with a slight retention to the Hawks for Hossa. The retention would make it so the cap hits on each player is about the same, but Ottawa would only pay about 3 million in actual salary. which would be good for a team with an internal cap hit. maybe hawks add but that's one way of getting rid of the paying 7 million to a player and then hawks are using hossa's cap space
