Jake Evans and Joonas Nattinen signed

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2018
Published: Mar. 26, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jake Evans is Notre Dame Fighting Irish's Captain and leading them into the Frozen Four with them highly Favored to win it all . facing off against the only other team with 5/1 odds to make it to the finals most importantly he's been more then a point per game while being nominated for the Hobey Baker and the Defensive player of the year Big 10 conference.

Joonas Nattinen has always been a solid defensive Forward with his life line in Hockey being his Faceoff prowess but often criticized for his lack of Offense but since leaving MTL's horrible system under Larry Carriere(2011-2016)he's had 3 very productive seasons offensively over sea's and has been a sold 2nd line center and given he's 27 and at a career high bringing him over only makes sense given we own his rights indefinitely according to capgeek .

if we Trade Patches for a center to slide in between Chucky-Scherbak we'd be set.
(something like a patches for bjugstad trade with other pieces involved obviously to make it balanced)

Show me a Patches trade that you would approve, and this lineup looks good.

Joonas Nättinen, really? He has played this year in a Finnish team called JYP, as their 3C.

If you want my opinion, you'd be better off with that team's 1C, Antti Suomela. He is younger than Nättinen (24), wins faceoffs (faceoff percentage 52%), and scored the most points in the Finnish League this year.

could they? do you know what Suomela's contract situation is? and even if he could come over Montreal doesn't have his rights, they can't just "sign him" because they want to, he can go wherever he pleases, Nättinen doesn't have that luxury.

I think he is going to be a free agent after this season. Not 100% about this, but in the Finnish media (yes, I'm a Finn) there has been some rumors about that he might be heading to either NHL or KHL.

do you see Antti Suomella honestly signing with the Habs though ? (i dont as unlike Nattinen he has a choice of teams )

Nattinen's coming here to play 4th C at 8-10 mins a night a position usually used to help take DZF
even if your description is true for the position we're trying to fill Nattinen just makes more sense

plus its a chance to out right prove it was our Development system under Molson's Managements and Larry Carriere's Guidance from 2011-2016 that
was the problem as almost none of our players who developed there have flourished into something great.(most of the time we take them straight to the NHL or leave them in Junior/NCAA/Oversea's these days )

i also Figure under Timmons who's now running Development that Nattinen will get a better shot at developing further here .

Suomela has never actually had any kind of star status here in Finland. He has surprisingly risen from a lower league player to a high-level playmaker in here. For a humble guy that has never been even drafted to NHL and never been considered to be any kind of a star it might be an honor to join into a legendary team of Montreal, even though they haven't been that good lately.

huh i honestly didnt see that coming .

i mean i'd develop him but i think given his Age i'd put him in the AHL for a season and call him up regularly as a reward for good play .
its the same thing in a sense i want for Nattinen i just feel he's earned a shot at the NHL given what he went through in our **** system and how long it set him back .
in reality we need RW just as bad as centers so both could work just not at once .(they'd be more or less competing for the same payday )
