This is interesting. I’d like to see a first out of any holtby deal though. Islanders make sense

I would think you could get more for Holtby too. And Carlson for a couple million less for that matter.

No way in hell am I signing Carlson for 9 freakn million! And to add to this you sign Holden and Chiasson who are terrible. Plus the Holtby deal is terrible! Could do much better.

Sam Reinhart would be really intriguing if the Caps didn't already have Andre Burakovsky and Brett Connolly to be equally disappointed in.

There is a good chance Carlson will be up for the Norris this year as he is currently leading the league in defense scoring which will make PK Subban probably the perfect comparison. I would like to see your argument for not signing him to 9 mil. Trading a goalie is hard such limited market I didn't want to trade him to the Islanders because I don't think you want to trade him in your division Buffalo's pick will be to high even for a 1 for 1 trade scenario so I figured it was a good deal to get some help on the wing and a couple high second round picks. 2018 will probably be 33-35 just outside the first. As for Chiasson and Holden thought they were decent players there is still 1.8m you can sign different players if you choose too they were more so place holders we are talking about bottom of the lineup depth here.

Reinhart has 3-20 goal seasons 40+ points on Buffalo I think he can top that playing with Backstrom or Kuznetsov

No. He has two 20 goal seasons, as of this week. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/reinhsa01.html

Remember that time Holtby got 48 wins in a season?

Also, Burakovsky and Connolly have yet to play with Backstrom, either, so unless you think Lars Eller is better than Jack Eichel, I fail to see Washington's interest.

The point is, the Caps are as deep as Pittsburgh at goal scoring winger. If they trade Holtby, it's for a potential #1 center (preferably) or if they whimp out and don't re-sign Carlson, and also don't want to fill that vacancy from within, then maybe for a right D.
