A CBJ fan will have to fill me in on how he's been playing. But if he's got top four upside, this is a great bridge deal for the Jackets.

4 years is hardly a bridge deal is it? he's 7th in ice time on the Blue Jackets, so they probably expect him to be their 4th defenseman next year. for a third pairing guy this is too much imo, especially for a cap strapped team

He's 23 years old, so a longer term deal could've been in play. Johnson is a UFA at the end of the year, so it's definitely not too much if he's in their top four.
